Principal's Corner

Welcome to the Principal's Corner

With the changing times, Faller is adjusting to new learning platforms and instructional practice tools.  What has not changed is that Faller is a school where “Every Child Learns and Character Counts”.  Our teaching teams collaborate weekly to analyze student data and discuss strategies, resources and tools to increase student success. Students are recognized and rewarded for demonstrating good character.  With the instruction and support from our counselor, Faller students learn what it takes to be TRRFCC- Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.

Research has shown that parents that volunteer in schools have students that are more likely to be successful in school.  We encourage parents to participate in school activities to include participation in our PTO, School Site Council, or ELAC teams.  Whatever interests you, please reach out to us and we will work to find a way for you to volunteer that is best suited for you.

According to our most recent parent survey from the 2019-20 school year, ninety six percent of the eighty-four parents completing the survey felt their student was making adequate progress over the course of the school year.  This year we are focused on improving our communication to increase the parent input and involvement.  Regardless of our location in learning, we will continue to offer the very best education experience possible for all students.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, concerns and/or compliments.  We value your input!

Mrs. Amy R. Self

Mrs. Self grew up here in Ridgecrest, attending multiple schools within the district.  Upon graduating from Burroughs HS, she spent some time in the Army as an active duty medic.  She and her family, which includes her husband and two children, spent that time stationed in multiple places, but settled on moving home to Ridgecrest to be close to family.  Once home, Mrs. Self began working as a paraprofessional while completing her Bachelor’s degree in Child, Adolescent and Family Studies and her teaching credential in Special Education at CSU Bakersfield.  While working as a Resource Specialist, Mrs. Self completed her Master’s degree and credential in Administrative Services.  This is Mrs. Self’s seventeenth year working in Sierra Sands USD, her third year as an administrator, and first year as the Principal at Faller Elementary.
