Character Counts at Faller School!
Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility,
Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Research finds that parents that volunteer in schools have students that are more likely to be successful in school. Please consider volunteering in a myriad of opportunities including serving on our PTO or School Site Council. Maybe you would like to listen to students read or help shelf books in the library or chaperone on a field trip or prepare a project for the teacher at home. Whatever interests you we can find a worthwhile volunteering experience for you. Just let us know you are interested in volunteering.
Faller School needs you!
Mrs. Brown,
Principal
DROP OFF TIME is 7:45 a.m. It is very important that children not be dropped off when there is no adult supervision. Teachers go on duty at 7:45. Phone calls to parents will be made for early arrivals.
The Faller Parent-Student and the SSUSD Rights and Responsibility Handbooks are available for viewing online (see links in the right-hand column). Please make yourself familiar with the dress code, cell phone, and the other school and district policies.
After-school plans should be made before school; however, we are happy to get a message to a student about after school plan changes as long as you call the front office by 1:30 p.m. We realize that emergencies do arise, but please try to make all your after-school plans and ride arrangements before school. Thank you very much.

From the Director of Transportation:
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU SEE FLASHING RED LIGHTS ON A SCHOOL BUS
Stopped school buses and children crossing the street.
Some school buses flash yellow lights when preparing to stop to let children off the bus. The yellow flashing lights warn you to slowdown and prepare to stop.
When the bus flashes red lights (located at the top front and back of the bus), you must stop from either direction until the children are safely across the street and the lights stop flashing.
The law requires you remain stopped as long as the red lights are flashing(CVC ยง22454). If you fail to stop, you may be fined up to $1,000 and your driving privilege could be suspended for one year.
If the school bus is on the other side of a divided or multilane highway (two or more lanes in each direction), you do not need to stop.
Definition of a Divided or multilane highway is:
Refers to a State Hwy:
Hwy 395 is a Hwy - two lanes, you must stop if Red lights are activated unless the bus is off the main traveled portion of the Hwy.
Hwy 178 outside of Ridgecrest is a divided or multilane Hwy, if the Red lights are used only the traffic going in the same direction must stop.
Ward is a multilane street and not divided (no barrier solid or marked) so cars must stop on both sides.
Downs is a multilane street and divided (solid barrier) cars on the opposite side of the street do not stop.
Remember a barrier is also two sets of solid double yellow lines, not one set.
